It wasn’t until high school that there were team sports available for girls in my town. When as a Freshman I was finally able to participate in sports and I realized how much I had been missing. With competitive sports it gave me confidence, camaraderie, and strength of both body and character. Through TrailsforYouth.Org (TYO), as the founder and program leader to primarily at-risk girls ages 11-18, I strive to offer these opportunities for them at a younger age so they can gain the benefits and develop their strengths earlier. By instilling the love of sports and being active to future female leaders, the opportunities will continue to grow and these are vital for their health and wellness.
